Func\u0163iunea portuar\u0103 este singura care dep\u0103\u015fe\u015fte ca importan\u0163\u0103 activitatea industrial\u0103 a ora\u015fului. Complexul portuar este situat pe circa 18 km de-a lungul malurilor lui Nieuwe Maas, care \u00een acest sector are 500 de metri l\u0103\u0163ime. Acest complex este format din 32 bazine, dintre care 12 pe malul drept \u015fi din imensul port artificial, construit din 20 bazine succesive s\u0103pate \u00een malul st\u00e2ng.
